So this observation gave a rise to a question whether differences lie in the parameters between more attractive people and less attractive ones when they try to evaluate others looks.
This interested Leonard Lee, marketing professor in the ‘Columbia University’ and his colleagues George Loewenstein at ‘Carnegie Mellon University’, Dan Ariely at ‘MIT’, and James Hong and Jim Young of “HOTorNOT.com”, to find out the differences of parameters on the votes given by the members of the “HOTorNOT.com”. This is a website which allows other members to rate you on the physical attractiveness.
They took data from two different sets which include the date requests sent by the members of the website to the other members of the site and the attractiveness rating submitted by the members on the profiles of other members. Both the data sets also evaluation of own attractiveness done by the members of both the group. Lee and colleagues were trying to analyze these two data sets to find out the different factors associated with the physical attractiveness motivating the choice of another person as a peer or a date.
