Spinal Cord Injury and Heart Disease Are Not Interlinked
The Healthcare Research and Quality Agency conducted some trials and came out with some good news for the Americans that are living with injury to backbone. There is no significant clinical finding as to the spinal cord injury versus risk of developing impaired carbohydrate and lipid metabolisms that manifest as distorted glucose tolerance and insulin resistance as seen in diabetes and high/low cholesterol levels of the blood affected heart functioning. In fact the spinal cord injury suffered persons are at par with those that never suffered one with respect to these conditions.
The people that had spinal cord injury and living in US is about 0.25 million and among whom about 10k of them require hospitalization every year. As known well, spinal cord injury can be due to a sudden trauma resulting from accidents or physical encounters including stabbing or thereof or even gunshot injuries etc.
