Daytime Doze Increases Risk of Having a Stroke
Chicago - elderly people may have an elevated risk of having a stroke by more than four times when compared to those who don’t doze off during daytime, U.S. researchers said.
The researchers also identified that there is increased risk of heart attacks and various cardiovascular problems in older people who regularly doze off during the day without any intention of doing so.
The study which is one of the 1st to examine the relationship between unintentional dozing and vascular events like that of stroke was presented at the American Stroke Association conference held in New Orleans on Thursday. (more…)
Atherosclerosis: An Unsolved Puzzle
“Atherosclerosis”, a disease that is considered to be major cause of cardiovascular problems and heart strokes. Because of this dreaded disease, the arterial walls attain abnormal thickness and this in turn starts blocking the narrow pipe resulting in uncontrolled blood flow.
