Pelvic Floor Disorders among Women Have No Direct link with Age Factor

Pelvic disorders occur among women who affect women’s pelvic organs like the uterus, vagina, bladder, rectum and the muscles that surround and support them. Pelvic organ prolapses, trouble with bladder or bowel control are the most common problems associated with this.

It was a common notion that that his disorder occurs with age however a recent study has reported that the incontinence dropped organs are not just an implication of age. It found that one third of the women are some or other pelvic disorders and none of these dispersers have been carrying any direct relationship with the age factor.

There are varieties of problems associated with the pelvic disorders. Among them, Pelvic organ prolapsed, Urinary incontinence, anal incontinence are the most prevalent. Among the most common symptoms of these disorders, there is a frequent urge to urinate, or some women can see or feel a ‘bulge’ or ‘something coming out’ at the vaginal opening, or they may face urinary inconsistency. Some women also suffer from bowel problems and may lose liquid or solid stool or even face trouble controlling gas.

One-third of women in the United States were found facing one or other problems like this. The researchers found that there was no direct relationship between age and the occurrence of these disorders.

The study was conducted among 4,000 women belonging to the age group of 25 to 84, out of whom 80 percent had already given birth. It was found that 25 percent suffered from anal incontinence, 15 percent from stress urinary incontinence, 13 percent from overactive bladder, and 6 percent from dropped pelvic organs (pelvic organ prolapsed).

These conditions which really affect the quality of life among women need to be seriously dealt with, the common myth that these problems can occur in the older women needs to be changed. Consultation and treatment of the disorders have been stressed upon the researchers. These disorders can be controlled with proper treatment and these conditions really affect a woman’s quality of life.
