Genetic Connection entices People to Smoke:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Scientists claim they have identified a genetic connection that entices people to consume more cigarettes and makes them believe that they can’t get rid of smoking and ultimately it be the cause of lung cancer.

Smoking and Lung cancer

The findings of three different teams of Scientists:

The findings of three different teams of scientists have formed a case strong enough to the genetic support in the direction of smoking and how genetics and cigarettes act together to be the reason of cancer.Their discoveries also provide some more suitable cures to say goodbye to smoking.

Christopher Amos’s point of view:

Christopher Amos, a professor of epidemiology at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and author of one of the studies, says, “This is kind of a double-whammy gene,” He further adds “It also makes you more likely to be dependent on smoking and less likely to quit smoking.”Researchers’ opinions:

According to researchers there are 80 percent greater chances of lung cancer in those who have a genetic support, from parents, towards smoking than a smoker without that support. Almost the same situation is found in consuming of cigarettes and the time they take to quit smoking.

Publication of the Studies:

The three studies will be published on Thursday in the journals “Nature and Nature genetics.”It is worth mentioning that the three studies have been financed by governments in the United States and Europe.

Analysis of genetic Indicators:

By focusing on the same set of genetic differences the scientists analyzed the genetic indicator in more than 35,000 people in Europe, the United States and Canada.They are not certain whatever they found is a set of variations in a single gene or in three strongly linked genes.However, they are of the view that genetic support enhances the risk of becoming addict to smoking and lung cancer.

Difference of opinion:

The studies’ authors don’t have the same opinion on whether the genetic support directly enhances the risk of lung cancer or indirectly does so by developing the habit of more smoking.

public said,

Ofcourse smoking and lung cancer go hand in hand.
infact passive smoking is far more dangerous.
