Marijuana-A Medically Potential Addictive Liability
Marijuana is classified as a “Schedule- I substance”; meaning, that the abuse is highly potential, with no medically acceptable use, not a medically safe drug for use even under the supervision of a medical professional. The threat associated with the use showed that a higher percentage of dependency on illicit drugs has been attributed to marijuana as the primary substance of choice, especially to people ranging from age 12 to 28.
‘Addiction’ is a progressive and chronic disease that can be diagnosed and treated. Suggested factors causing addiction include genetic, biological, pharmacological and social. It is not easy to educate drug abusers about responsible use because the purpose is to get “high,” and subsequent use is even to get “higher.” However, if a person succumbs to it, it can be a devastating illness that affects one’s life psychologically, physically, socially or vocationally.
A person who continually uses marijuana displays cognitive dysfunction - impairment of memory, judgment, verbal skills and perception. Some behavioral manifestations are concealment of the use to family and friends, irritability, restlessness, account depletion to finance the drugs, hopelessness, committing illegal acts such as stealing, risking significant relationships, emotional breakdown, suicidal thoughts, and withdrawals. On top of these deleterious effects are falling behind career achievements, successive worsening of physical skills, unemployment, significant amount of debts, bankruptcy, bank account depletion, forced home sales and eviction, embezzlement, fraud, check forgery that can lead to arrests and incarceration, poor mental and physical health, loss of life, family disruptions and personality disturbances.
Sadly, the families suffer from physical and psychological abuse, the harassment and threats not only from bill collectors but also the creditors, the stress stemming from neglect and divorce, and the extra financial weight to repay debts. Children are forced to endure physical and emotional abandonment, thus missing all the nurturing they need. Children with parents who have addiction problems are typically abused verbally, mentally and physically, and that they are not by far to develop drug addiction than their peers.
Contrary to the negative effects of marijuana, not too many people are aware of its medical use. Currently, around 60 U.S. and international health organizations in some countries agree to and support that doctors should be permitted to prescribe medical marijuana for clinical applications, that patients should be granted legal access under doctor’s supervision, and that further clinical research and trials be conducted to better appraise medical marijuana.
A number of medical organizations found marijuana prohibition unfavorable to excuse no one from using, the sick and dying included. Despite the ban, doctors and medical organizations have continually adopted the medical attributes of marijuana. What could be a worse invalidating aftermath than denial of medical marijuana to patients benefiting from its therapeutic use, none! The American Medical Association was very vocal about the outrage, and argued that it denies patients to advanced medicine.
AMA then conducted further medical studies and research to prove the medical value of marijuana, and the result showed that potential therapeutic use of ‘cannabinoid drugs’ can control pain, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, wasting syndrome and dementia were among a few, and that marijuana has the capability to relieve distress to people stricken with dreadful illnesses like cancer because of its ‘neuro-protective element’, and it’s appetite stimulating. This was then corroborated by some US government health commissions and some countries around the world and suggested the necessity of an intervention with use of ‘cannabinoid drugs’.

I read this valuable information about marijuana.I heard and read somewhere that many people goes to addiction of different drugs. So can we reduce or completely this bad habit of consumption of drugs by any home based treatment?
I hope it will help more people to come over from that condition!

I have always had a thought that marijuana has no other uses but has only ill effects, now i am surprised to hear this that marijuana does indeed have medicinal properties if used appropriately. Excellent article.
