Stroke victims and instant use of antidepressants

posted by  in May 28th, 2008  Article Under: Heart   Tags: , ,

use of antidepressantsDepression is a common complication among stroke victims and doctors may want to give antidepressants instantly to these victims instead of waiting that the victims develop depression or not, a new study suggests.

According to the lead authors of the study these findings have the ability to lead towards an extended use of antidepressants. It is also possible that high-risk people like stroke victims may use the drugs before becoming a victim of depression. This extended use would be similar to the use of cholesterol drugs that people have to avoid heart attack.

Low doses of the antidepressant “Lexapro” were given to some stroke patients and it was noted that there was 4.5 percent lesser risk in the patients on the drug than the patients who were getting a dummy pill.

Arrhythmias as Fatal

Arrhythmias as FatalHeart throbbing and sudden death

It has been investigated in Rhode Island sanatorium that the sudden heart attack is caused by the Arrhythmias’ factor. This is the acute heart whipping which becomes the cause of death.

LQTS’ as warning sign

The arrhythmia is related to the symptoms of LQTS, which is an abrupt turmoil of heart thrashing. It creates an acute pain in the human chest, which leads a man towards heart failure.

Common symptoms and causes

The doctors say that there are many reasons of the Arrhythmias’ death, such as severe vomiting, intense breathing, genetic factors, dirty foods, chemicals, smoking, alcoholism, hash, cocaine, drugs and global warming. The heart beating is spreading among the adolescents and elder people at a rapid rate in the world. These findings are related to the previous researches, still there has not been a perfect cure of Arrhythmia.

Carotid Bruit, a symptom of heart disease

Carotid BruitCarotid bruit

A greater risk of heart attack and cardiovascular death is found among the people with carotid bruit. This has been published in The Lancet, in an article related to cardiovascular health. When the blood has to pass over an obstacle in the carotid artery, it makes a sound and this sound is called carotid bruit. Carotid artery supplies blood to the head and neck. Generally, this sound (bruit) is easily detected with a stethoscope and it indicates arterial blockage.

In past, these carotid bruits were related to bleeding events in the brain but yet it has not been confirmed that these bruits indicate bleeding events in the brain.

Times higher risk of death

By assessing the existing research associated to carotid bruits, Dr. Christopher Pickett and team made an analysis and they investigated 22 studies with 17,295 patients who were examined about fours years on average. The researchers noted that the existence of a carotid bruit in patients doubled the risk of heart attack and it was almost half in those that were without a bruit. Further, the patients with carotid bruits had 2.5 times higher risk of death due to some cardiovascular disease. In four other studies, that included this meta-analysis, patients with and without bruits were compared and the results were found quite similar.

Mesenchymal precursor cell

To provide an update on the ongoing multi-centre Phase 2 clinical trial of the proprietary mesenchymal precursor cell (MPC) technology in patients with heart attacks, a press conference was held by the doctors at Houston’s Texas Heart Institute last Saturday.

Allogeneic, stem cell therapy

This is the first trial in the world to evaluate an allogeneic, stem cell therapy injected directly into damaged heart muscle by cardiac catheter. The trial’s 25 patients are currently being enrolled at multiple sites in the United States by Mesoblast’s (ASX:MSB; USOTC:MBLTY) sister company, Angioblast Systems Inc. Patients will get either placebo or one of three gradually increasing doses of the proprietary adult stem cells.

Cardiac catheter

It has been counted the first trial in the world to examine an allogeneic stem cell therapy injected directly into damaged heart muscle by cardiac catheter. 25 patients are currently being enrolled at multiple sites in the United States by Mesoblast’s (ASX: MSB; USOTC: MBLTY) sister company, Angioblast Systems Inc for the trial.

New Model of CPR Gives a Survival to the Adults and Heart Aging Clusters

posted by admin in April 1st, 2008  Article Under: Heart   Tags: , , , ,

It is a minute ago amazing to hear that modern CPR version provided so much relaxation and ease to the patients of heart diseases by forming the functions of fast yawning compresses on the patient’s chest, here with the intention of saving lives, the American Heart Association has done a great job for the heart diseases’ matures by launching a new model of CPR.

By having the finesse of CPR, we know how to gulp of air a along with burning on top of the human trunk so as to move in the direction of salting away a being from the death. The scientists are very optimistic on this innovative stuff which is not only running with simplicity but it is also a pretty well-designed tool to get rid of a hurdle of pain breathers, as it is the most confined technology to the sensitive heart clusters.
