“Nobody wants to know about the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, but it is good to recognize about it rather than not knowing about it. Only by having the diagnosis allows people to plan the future and find the treatment appropriate for it”

A new research from ‘Washington University’ suggests that knowing the truth of Alzheimer’s at the earliest is the better approach that improves the emotional well being of both patients and caretakers. Because of the medical advancements it is possible to diagnose Alzheimer’s but the doctors are still hesitant to inform patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

According to Brian Carpenter, an associate professor in psychology in Washington University, most of the patients won’t get upset or suicidal. So the fear of telling them about the truth is illegitimate.

In a study published in the “Journal of American Geriatrics Society”, the researchers followed 90 people and their caretakers who came for an evaluation. Among the ninety people 69% were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, but there are no major changes in the depression and anxiety decreased considerably. The study also refers that both patients and their families relieved after having diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
