Music is getting immensely popular and more creative everyday. In January the Universal album, “The Bedlam in Goliath” of ‘Mars Volta’ was released with a unique and innovative offer to all music lovers. Fans were offered a ‘$30 USB Drive’ of this album which was designed on the lines of a ‘Quija board plachette’.
This USB drive entailed an offer of digital –rights-management-free version for the album with extra bonus material to be added in coming months. Music lovers were required to plug the drive in to the computer’s USB port and enjoy the music or even download it enriching their library.
More and more artists are adapting this new technology for releasing their music albums. Jenifer Lopez, Ringo Starr, and Matchbox twenty are just few names among these artists. ‘All Access’, the company that launches music of ‘Matchbox Twenty’, has already entered in to an agreement with EMI, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group for releasing the ‘USB Bracelets’ for their artists’ albums.
“It’s a marriage between merchandise and music so that people will at least buy it instead of stealing it because they want the merchandise“, says Chris Guggenheim, CEO of All Access.
